We encourage comments. Your ideas and concerns are important to ensure that a broad range of Americans are active and informed participants about GPO and Government publications.
We want to publish your comments, but we expect conversations to follow the conventions of polite discourse. Therefore, we won’t post comments that:

- are far off-topic
- make unsupported accusations
We don’t edit comments to remove objectionable or inappropriate content, so please ensure that your comment contains none of the above.
Reporters are asked to send questions to GPO’s Public Relations Office through their normal channels and to refrain from submitting questions here as comments. Reporter questions will not be posted.
We recognize that the Web is a 24/7 medium, so your comments are welcome at any time. Given the need to manage Federal resources, however, moderating and posting of comments will generally occur during regular business hours Monday through Friday. Comments submitted after hours or on weekends will be read and posted as early as possible the next business day.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment policy. We encourage your participation in our discussion and look forward to an active exchange of ideas.
Absolutely! The GPO’s comment policy is a shining example of how an organization can promote open and respectful dialogue while maintaining a constructive and productive conversation. By encouraging public participation and valuing the input of all individuals, the GPO is promoting a culture of inclusivity and transparency. The policy’s guidelines clearly outline what is acceptable and what is not, which helps to keep discussions focused and relevant to the topic at hand. Additionally, the policy demonstrates a commitment to protecting the privacy of individuals and maintaining a professional environment. Overall, the GPO’s comment policy is a model for other organizations to follow, and it’s clear that the GPO values its community and wants to foster a healthy and constructive exchange of ideas.

I came to this site after seeing the citizenship flashcards. I am a teacher who would like to use many of these materials, but cannot afford to purchase them- if they are property of the U.S. government, why can’t some be offered as files we can print ourselves?

Jackie: You’ll be happy to know that the Federal Government does provide free downloadable versions of these materials. The US Government Bookstore sells and distributes the pre-printed materials worldwide, but anyone can download the free versions from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website. As a teacher, you will want to visit the Teachers page on the USCIS website http://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/teachers where you will find downloadable versions of the flashcards under the Educational Products link. Thanks for writing, and enjoy!

Reviews for new books are planned in advance based on the publications and promotions schedule, and for older books. in relation to key events on our promotions calendar and online bookstore collections that are being assembled. Unfortunately, we only include older books that are still being sold in our online bookstore and no longer do out-of-print books.

Books for the blog are chosen for a mix of new that need to get the word out and old that typically are tying into a significant date. Also, guest bloggers at GPO may have a personal interest in a particular book he or she wishes to write about.

Hi,
I was hoping to get some clarification on GPO treatment of “listserv,” which is set lowercase in Section 4, Capitalization Examples, of the GPO guide. Since LISTSERV is a trademark of a specific electronic mailing list software, it should not be used to refer generically to electronic mailing lists. (http://www.lsoft.com/corporate/trademark.asp) While I don’t believe there is any legal requirement to use all caps, using lowercase “listserv” can create a bit of confusion–i.e., whether the word in a particular document is being used to refer to an actual LISTSERV or some other kind of electronic mailing list. I also saw that the GPO uses a LISTSERV itself (http://listserv.access.gpo.gov/), and that site uses all caps throughout. That leads me to ask if “listserv” is being used generically in Section 4 of the GPO guide, and if so, if that is legal in terms of the trademark. The obvious question then, of course, is how we should be treating “listserv” in documents produced that follow GPO style.
Can you provide any clarification on this issue?
Thanks so much.

GPO requires a letter on business letterhead requesting to be recognized as a book dealer. If your locality requires a booksellers license, include a copy with your letter. If no license is required in your locality, indicate that in your letter. The letter should be addressed to: U.S. Government Printing Office, Customer Contact Center, Mail Stop IDCC, Washington, DC 20401.
Once your letter is received, you will be assigned a book dealer number and be able to buy books from GPO at a 25 percent discount and then resell them.
